Well technically Mormons are not technically Christian because they have a different Bible.  Like completely different. And the beginning history just watch that South Park episode.  

Anyways they’ve always seemed like nice folks and don’t get me wrong most are but before internet and social media or whatever.  My grandpa grew up in Salt Lake City and was not Mormon.  The school kids that were would throw rocks at him every day and outcast him.

Trump is using this attack to further escalate his culture war.  The attack was carried out by a Christian against other Christians.  For people deep in team Trump, they'll read his words and assume it's a "radical leftist" or something.

I'm a bit frustrated that it appears that elected officials, prominent Republican officials, and the President himself can just get away with turning violence into their own political rhetoric.  Like, when Rep Hortman and her husband were assassinated, the response from Democrats was pretty similar to the Charlie Kirk assassination- calling for a de-escalation of rhetoric and political violence.  Trump doesn't even seem aware that a Democrat was assassinated  early this year.  And when Kirk was assassinated, it was right to extreme rhetoric about the radical left and how they're waging a war against America.  

It's like we have a lot of violence in America, but the President has decided that any act of violence against "his Americans" is a coordinated attack by Democrats, and any violence suffered by Democrats doesn't count.  And the rest of the Republican party seems fine with this line of thinking.  The extreme rhetoric from Trump, the sending of national guard into Democrat heavy areas, is all extremely disconcerting.

He stopped short of blaming Antifa and "the radical left," but he is seemingly connecting this to other instances of anti-Christian violence recently — saying "yet another" targeted attack. I imagine he means the Abundant Life school shooting in Minnesota a few weeks ago.

What other examples of anti-Christian violence is he referring to? Is it too soon to call it that, or is there enough reasonable evidence to call it essentially a hate crime against Christians? Or is this a political narrative he is trying to paint?

Maybe Trump should stop telling his followers he hates his enemies.  Since there is a good possibility this guy heard this and went after Mormons since their brand is associated with the Kirk killing. 

Not saying Mormon are responsible for any of these horrible actions,  just that if someone wanted to, they could use Trumps words to fuel their hate for groups they don't like.

There’s quite a few evangelical on FB that are mad at Trump for calling them “Christian” despite “Jesus Christ” being in the name of their church.

Their reasoning for why Mormons are not Christian; because they don’t believe in the Trinity. A doctrine  established by the Nicene Creed hundreds of years after Jesus that doesn’t even appear in the Bible (unless you cherry pick versus and do mental gymnastics, the Bible is quite ambiguous about this)

I'm surprised of the number of people that apparently don't think Mormons are Christian. They self identify as Christian, and worship Jesus; that sure sounds like Christian to me.

Granted, I haven't spent much time around evangelicals, and the religious exposure in my younger years was largely associated with the Episcopal Church; which is one of the more accepting denominations. So that may be a part of it; they'll let pretty much anyone into the big tent.

The increasing threats of violence by Trump supporters and Trump, himself, who keeps saying liberals will pay for whatever he claims they've done have escalated the climate of threats above what is even normal for this country. That is clearly on Trump and his supporters.

Trump is in the midst of a vicious nationwide campaign against foreigners and others who are different from the mainstream.

This guy drove a pickup truck sporting large American flags, the very same thing we've seen many times before from Trump supporters. I'm going to guess this guy is a Trump guy. 

Mormonism borrows a great deal from Christianity, but most Christian denominations consider Mormonism so different it's considered its own separate non-Christian religion. Maybe this guy saw it that way, too, and believed he was attacking a foreign element that was not really Christian or American enough for his taste. It's possible this clown felt he had some kind of license to use violence from Trump and a license to attack Mormons because they did not meet his definition of good Americans? Trump and MAGA want to "purify" America of all bad elements. 

Too bad he's now dead or we might be able to easily find out. For that reason, I wish the cops wouldn't automatically kill these people.
